Cotton is a natural material that has been used to make clothes for thousands of years. It is soft and comfortable and fits perfectly in several of our workwear such as tunics and t-shirts.
At Hejco, we have always used cotton in many of our collections. But cotton is resource-intensive, it usually requires large amounts of water, pesticides and fertilizers. This has negative effects on local biodiversity and surrounding ecosystems, and it can also have effects on nearby communities.
We have therefore decided to phase out ordinary cotton and switch to organic cotton instead. Our organic cotton is of high quality and is grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers, but in a way that contributes to well-functioning ecosystems, increased species richness and soil quality.
Our organic cotton suppliers are audited by independent control organizations. The cultivation methods and materials used support biodiversity and contribute to improved soil quality.
